Hello, beautiful! My name is Racquel Frisella, and I am a Board Certified Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner, as well as the founder and CEO of RFA Medical Grade Skincare. With over 15 years of experience in aesthetic medicine, I have devoted my career to helping people feel confident and empowered in their own skin. But today, I want to share a more personal side of my journey—one that has shaped not only my profession but also my passion for skincare.
The Unexpected Change
Growing up, I was fortunate to enjoy clear, beautiful skin. I rarely had to deal with breakouts, which meant I could step out without worrying about makeup. But everything changed in 2016 when I embraced the beautiful chaos of motherhood. Just when I thought I had it all, I faced unexpected postpartum changes that led to severe hyperpigmentation—melasma.
Suddenly, I had dark patches on my skin, making me feel as though I was wearing a mask. I’ll never forget the sting of having someone comment, “It looks like you have dirt on your forehead!” It was uncomfortable and disheartening. For the first time, I was left feeling insecure and desperately wanting to hide from the world. I experimented with heavy foundations and wore hats to cover my face, all while feeling like I’d lost my identity.
The Moment of Realization
As a skincare professional, I felt like a fraud. Here I was, advising others on skincare, and I couldn’t even manage my own tumultuous complexion. The turning point came when I had to return to work. I was anxious about how my colleagues and patients would perceive me. During my first day back, I was approached by a brutally honest co-worker who said, “How are you going to work looking like that?” That moment cut deep, stirring emotions that would ultimately fuel my transformation.
That day marked a shift within me. I decided I had to take matters into my own hands. I became obsessed with finding solutions for my skin issues, pouring myself into research and discovering new formulations that would work for my melasma. I refused to accept how I felt, and I found the right treatment plan that worked wonders. Slowly but surely, I began to heal, both physically and emotionally.
A New Mission
Ultimately, my personal battles with melasma ignited a passion and a mission to help other women feel empowered and confident in their own skin.
This newfound understanding transformed my approach to skincare. I set out to create RFA Medical Grade Skincare to provide others with the same relief and confidence I found. Each product in our line is meticulously crafted to address a variety of skin concerns—because we are all unique, and our skincare should reflect that uniqueness.
Through extensive research and years of clinical practice, I honed in on the most effective ingredients that could truly make a difference. I didn’t just want a line with one “hero” product; I envisioned a lineup where every product was a hero in its own right.
